I started blogging on this domain in 2004; I have kept it for historical reasons. Currently I'm sharing my thoughts at https://athonlab.com

The email looks authentic. You can also see the 'https' link with the email which means it is secure. If you click on the link you go the PayPal website where you can signin to your PayPal account. Simple isnt't it.

BEWARE

I first check the link I have been asked to click on. If the link doesn't start with paypal.com (or anyother service provider) then I refrain from clicking on such links.

Though, there have been times when I do click on such link just to check how close they are to the real thing. Today was one of those days and so I clicked on the link. Guess what? I had this message from Firefox:

Isn't that cool. Firefox jst rOcks!

Rearrange this to form a meaningful word and spoil the surprise OR wait for one 😉

i gotta get a UPS now.

For the last couple of months we have been experiencing momentary intermittent power failures/fluctuations. Now it surely doesn't affect the Saas-bahu soap operas but has surely made my life tougher. It has rendered one of my RAM chips useless and because of which I had to install a new one. Remember the podcast interview I did with Freeman Murray at BarCampPune3 is in post-production now. Some of the files have been corrupted and I would have to start the whole thing again. Extremely sorry for the delay. So, now its time to get a UPS for my home computer and save the trouble. I must thank Firefox as its 'restore session' feature comes in handy during such restarts. Signing off...

BarCampPune3

I will be attending the BarCampPune3 today.

The lineup of sessions seems to be exciting. Personally I am interested in meeting new people, people whose blogs i follow, people who i have read about, people who i have spoken to on phone, people with whom i have had email exchanges with and finally few people who i have known. So, all in all its going to be an interesting bunch of people who I am going to meet 🙂

Hey if you qualify to be among the people who I plan to meet then do use the code 'aiwa' when you greet me :p (LoL)

Now I have interesting people to meet at the BarCamp, a Nikon 4600 and I also have a Sansa 2.0gb c250 player/recorder. Lets see if I can put them to some good use :>?

Before signing off allow me to link back to BarCampMumbai posts (2005).

BarCampPune3… here i come 😉

I am not going to leave it at this…

The past one month has been exciting to say the least. There is so much to write about that this blog post would not do justice to all of it. So as the title of this blog post suggests 'I am not going to leave it at this...', I will be making some follow-up posts.

To give you some clue of whats cooking I would like to share some related tags:

Pre-monsoon showers hit Mumbai

The pre-monsoon showers have hit the suburbs in Mumbai today. In the afternoon it felt like a furnace outside and now its raining later in the evening. Thats Mumbai for you in all its glory.

Now I take your leave and stand witness to this phenomenon.

Oh! Are you attending the workshop, "From Software Engineering To Engineering Software". I will be taking a session on "Software Engineering and Ruby on a Rails Journey". Meet you there!

PavBhaji, at 3:00am?

If you know me then I am sure something like the title of this post is perfectly believable. Let me add to this by saying this is true even with Sankool.

Yesterday, we were at his place and just passing time. We went for a walk around 12:30 am and returned back in a hour's time. We made ourselves some tea and were discussing about things to do in the near future. It was then around 3am that Sankool felt like having PavBhaji but he thought it was too late. Late because we would have to walk down to Kandivali as his bike didn't have the requisite papers. I asked him how much time would it take to get there and he replied saying 1hour. I said lets go for it and the next moment I remember we were off to Kandivali. It was FuN walking down to Kandivali where you have a popular all nighter PavBhaji joint - Bhagwati. We reached around 4:00am and ordered 2 PavBhajis. We were really hungry by then and finished eating soon. Next up was getting back home. It took us 1:30 mins to reach back home. By then it was 6:00am and we were damn tired. We had FuN all along and it surely didnt feel like a long journey. The distance was approximately 21km and looks like it was our first practice session for the comming Mumbai marathon 😉

So, wanna come for PavBhaji at 3:00am.

Can someone please explain this to ME ?

Just stumbled upon these domain names while checking out alexa rankings and after discussing about a simple domain name extractor with a friend of mine.

What do you think of these domains:

sina.com.cn & com.cn

Oh! Fine they are in chinese can't make out what those websites are all about but I would always think that sina is a sub-domain of com.cn (Not sure whether its the case here)

Now to add to the complexity I google and found these domain names too:

www.google.com.cn & www.com.cn

www.google.com.my & www.com.my

In both these cases IMHO the former would qualify to be a fourth level domain for the latter second level domain.

Am I right OR is there something I am missing here ?
