kshana - moments of happiness (http://www.kshana.org)

Background:

Here is the mail which has the essence of the website…

Hi Ritesh,

I was working on the kshana.org site now for quite some time. I mean, I had promised to make a makeover for the kshana.org site after temporarily updating the existing website. I am sure you must have thought that ‘yeh toh bhool gaya’ , but no I had not forgot it. More so after attending the latest event at DON BOSCO SHELTER I decided to work on it ‘ Dil Se ‘ and I also promised Swappy that this experience would show in my work.
I hope I am not creating a Big Picture or anything ….. but just read through this so that you get to know how I have come upon this design.
Goals that I had set before making this website :

  • Give it a nice happy look ……. with some peppy english colors which go with the “moment of happiness” say of Kshana.
  • Maintain a nice feel to the website.
  • Get the ppl whom we work with on the page …. which is done by the banner ,….. which is a collarge of images.
  • Make ‘Kshana.org’ the main focus after all no one should miss the name of the organisation.
  • Finally, the thumb rule ……… ” KEEP THINGS SIMPLE “

Don Bosco Institute of Technology

Background:

On the first day in college during the orientation session I remember our Prof. Gunashekhar telling us that the college doesn’t have a website and we could get involved in making one. I don’t know abt others (*may be* no one) but I met him right after the session and let him know of my interest in the project. Right from that day I have been involved with the website. Sir told me that presently a small team is working on the website but they haven’t come up with anything substantial. Later in informal discussions I found out that most of the students in the team were good and some exceptional but were basically content writers. -snip- the next thing I remember is that we had our Annual Day in 2-3 weeks and we gotta get the website up. We did it ! Yup, it took a lot of hardwork and overnights especially to get the layout and other things right.

Looking back I feel I would have done a lot of things differently… and later I did them to.

In next version of the website most of the designing was done by Kevin Sir from the DBIT studio. I did conduct a long (week long) Webdesigning workshop and form a team to work on the new desing.

Later, I even came up with DyCI which powers the backend of DBIT.
